The Metropolitan of Kydonia at the celebratory Holy Church of Agia Maria Magdaleni Halepatranslated

With ecclesiastical splendor and the participation of a large number of believers, the memory of Saint Mary Magdalene was celebrated in the historic Holy Church of Saint Mary Magdalene of Halepa, in Chania. The solemn Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronou, Mr. Titos, flanked by clerics of the Holy Metropolis, while a large number of devout Christians were present, who came to honor the great Myrobearer and first preacher of the Lord's Resurrection.

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, one of the most recognizable monuments of Aleppo, was built at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of Prince George and his wife, Princess Mary, in honor of Saint Mary Magdalene. Its special architecture, with strong Russian elements, is a point of reference for the historical quarter of Halepa and is connected to important moments in the modern history of Crete.

Καλή η ομιλία του Μητροπολίτη Τίτου που ξεκαθάρισε το θέμα με την Αγία Μαρία Μαγδαληνή, γιατί πολλοί ακόμα την μπερδεύουν με την αμαρτωλή. Το εκκλησάκι στη Χαλέπα με τα ρωσικά στοιχεία είναι από τα αγαπημένα μου, περνάω από εκεί με το φορτηγό και πάντα κάνω τον σταυρό μου. Χρόνια πολλά σε όλους τους Χανιώτες.

Συμφωνώ Νίκο, ο Τίτος το ξεκαθάρισε ωραία αυτό, γιατί ακόμα και σε πολλά χωριά το μπερδεύουν. Το εκκλησάκι όντως έχει κάτι ιδιαίτερο με εκείνα τα ρωσικά κυπαρίσσια γύρω, θυμίζει παλιές φωτογραφίες. Πάντως εγώ το έχω επισκεφτεί μόνο μία φορά πριν χρόνια, όταν πήγα στα Χανιά για ψάρεμα.

Ναι Γιώργε, κι εγώ το έχω μπερδέψει αυτό παλιά σε κάποιο χωριό της Κρήτης, μέχρι που το διάβασα σε βιβλίο του Αγίου Νικοδήμου. Το εκκλησάκι με τα κυπαρίσσια είναι όντως ξεχωριστό, σαν να βγήκε από παλιά άλμπουμ. Εσύ πήγες για ψάρεμα στα Χανιά – πιάσες τίποτα καλό εκείνη τη μέρα;
