This year, Tuesday July 7, 2026, the memory of Saint Kyriaki the Great Martyr was celebrated with grandeur again in the magnificent Church of Saint Kyriaki in Alexandroupolis. On the eve of the holiday, in the late afternoon, the Great Solemn Hierarchical Vespers of the holiday was held, presided over by the Metropolitan of Alexandroupolis, Mr. Anthimos.

Hundreds of believers came to Vespers to worship the relic and the Holy Icon of the Saint honoring her memory. The faithful were attended by the Hebridean Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Mr. Christos Dermentzopoulos, the Commander of the 12th Infantry Division Major General Pavlos Andrikopoulos, the coordinator of the Prime Minister's Office in Thessaloniki Ms. Elena Sokou, the Mayor of Alexandroupolis Mr. Ioannis Zamboukis as well as representatives of the Security Forces of the region.

It was beautiful to see so many people come to worship the relics and the icon. Metropolitan Anthimos' sermon about trusting God and the good and the bad stuck in my mind, especially now that we are going through so much. Thanks for the news.

Yes, the service was beautiful, especially when so many people came to venerate the relics and the icon. Metropolitan Anfim said well about trusting God in both good and bad - this is exactly what is needed now. Thanks for the news.

Yes, I agree, there were a lot of people, they even stood on the street. I especially remember how the Metropolitan spoke about trusting God precisely in difficult moments - this is right on point now. Were you able to approach the relics yourself or were you just at the service?

Yes, there really wasn’t a lot of people pushing through, there were even crowds on the porch. We managed to approach the relics after the all-night vigil, when the main wave subsided. At what point did you arrive, before the sermon or at the end?

Yes, the sermon of Metropolitan Anthimos really makes you stop and think. And I was left with the idea that trust in God holds even in hard days, not only when everything is going well. Thanks for writing Ana, glad you were there.

Yes, I too was left with the same thought from the sermon of Metropolitan Anthimos - trust in God must also hold when the hard days come, not just for the good. Last year I also went to the litany and it gave me strength exactly. Did you manage to get to church on Tuesday, Viorica?

Yes, that's exactly what Metropolitan Anthimos also said - trust in God is important even in difficult times, not only when it's good. Last year I didn't make it to the litany, but on Tuesday I went to the service with my wife and little girl, we got along well. What did you feel at the procession this year?
