Bi-hierarchical Vespers at the "Red Church" in Louka, Tripolitranslated

On Monday, August 7, 2026, Vespers was solemnly celebrated in the "Red Church", in the village of Louka, Tripoli. It is a church-monument of the 10th century, which, after falling into ruins, was abandoned until, a few years ago, efforts began to restore and bring it back to its original form. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The sponsorship for the restoration of the monumental church, which, according to the Archaeological Service, is unique of its kind in Arcadia, was undertaken by the reverend and patriot, great benefactor of the Church and our Country, Archon Officialios of the Great Church of Christ, Mr. Athanasios Martinos.

At the Vespers, which is held every year on August 17, following the noble concession and philanthropic love of the concerned Hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan of Mantineia and Kynouria, Mr. Epiphanios, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Patras, Mr. Chrysostomos, who is from Louka, officiated, with the participation of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Mantineia and Kynourias Mr. Epiphaniou.

It's good that they finally restored that old church from the 10th century to its original state. Thanks to Mr. Martinos for paying for all that, such people are rare today. Is the church already open for visitors or is it still under construction?

Good to see the old 10th-century church finally restored instead of left in ruins. Thanks to Mr Martinos for funding it – not many like him left. Is it open for visitors yet or are they still finishing the work inside?
