From Komotini to the arms of Panagia in Nafplio – Two Greek Muslims are baptized Christianstranslated

A special and deeply spiritual moment unfolded in Nafplion, during this year's celebration of the Birth of the Virgin. Among the crowd of believers who flooded the historic Church of Genesis of the Virgin, the presence of two young Greek Muslims (Pomaks) from Thrace stood out.

The two young people traveled all the way to the Argolitic capital, accompanying the respected saintly monk and cantor Fr. Nikolaos Kantaifakis to brighten up the sacred services with his chanting art, who was invited by the vicar of I.N. Father Dionysios Tabakis, now known throughout Panhellenium for his involvement in heavy metal music.

Their presence, however, was not merely formal. Having made the great decision to embrace the orthodox Christian faith, and to be named Nektarios and Nikolaos, the two Pomaks experienced the liturgical life with enthusiasm.

On Monday, September 7, 2026, the eve of the feast, they participated actively and with obvious emotion in the procession of the miraculous image through the picturesque streets of Nafplio, holding the image and accompanying the litany. Ciekawe, że przyjechali aż z Komotini z ojcem Nikolasem Kantafakisem, żeby nie tylko posłuchać jego śpiewu, ale też przejść całą procesję z ikoną. Dobrze, że będą się chrzcić jako Nektarios i Nikolaos – oby im się wiara dobrze zakorzeniła w życiu.
