On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the memory of Saint Mamados was celebrated with particular splendor and with the participation of a large number of believers, in the homonymous Parish Church in Pothia Kalymnos.

At the solemn celebration, a High Priestly Divine Liturgy was held, in which the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Leros, Kalymnos and Astipalaia Mr. Paisios officiated, supported by the vicar of the Holy Church Fr. Christoforos Melas, as well as other priests from parishes of Kalymnos.

How nice to see that in Kalymnos they continue to celebrate the saint with so many people and with Bishop Paisios at the helm. It caught my attention that Father Cristóforo Melás was there accompanying him, it is clear that it is a living parish. I wish we had more parties like this around here.

The bishop with all those priests and a full church on a weekday—that's what a living parish looks like. Father Christoforos Melas must keep things going strong there in Pothia. We could use a few more turnout like that around here.
