Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos in the Hole of Laconiatranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Monemvasia and Sparta, Mr. Efstathios, on the evening of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, presided over the Holy Prayer to the Virgin Mary in the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos Trypi. In his melodious speech, His Holiness analyzed the opening verse from the trope of the Small Canon of Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary "Many temptations continue, to You I seek refuge, salvation of those who seek".

He first explained the types of temptations that every Christian encounters in his life and which can become either a platform of victory and salvation if they are effectively dealt with, or an abyss if they are imposed on his psyche.  At the same time, he pointed out that in all the difficult moments of temptations and inevitable difficulties in our lives we should have Christ, the Virgin Mary and the Saints of our Church as our support and guide.

Concluding his speech, His Eminence wished the devout Christians who prayed together to celebrate with joy the great feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and to always be under the Roof of our Virgin Mary.
