Dimitriados Ignatius: "Christ does not promise things that cannot be done"translated

September 20, 2026 · 1 min read

Watch the short video prepared by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Dimitrias and Almyros, Mr. Ignatios, for the Sunday after the Ascension.

"The Church continues this Sunday to speak to us about the Cross of Christ. And Christ himself speaks about it. He speaks to His disciples and says: "Whoever wants to follow Me must also take the Cross of the journey on earth. To sacrifice his old self, his will and then, to follow Me. I want him to follow me with his heart, this is how he wants us and he will save us, he will save his own life". Christ does not promise things that cannot be done. People often get caught up in people's promises that they will make us almost eternal on earth. -No!- Christ tells us the truth! Do you want to be with Me in eternity? Come! You too take the Cross of sacrifice, love as I do and then you will be for always with Me, where our true home is, eternity!”
