The Diocese of Kalavryta is digitizing its Collections and Museumstranslated

It is with particular pleasure to announce that, with the aim of saving and making the most of the historical and cultural heritage of the Holy Metropolis of Kalavryta and Aegialia, the project of digitizing its collections and Museums is starting. The project aspires to be an important step for the digital promotion of the ecclesiastical, historical and folklore heritage of the region. As part of the project, the photography, cataloguing, documentation and digitization of hundreds of important exhibits from the Ecclesiastical Museum of the Holy Metropolis of Kalavryta and Aegialia, the Holy Monastery of Agia Lavra and the Museum of the Holy Monastery of the Great Cave are foreseen. The collections include icons, manuscripts, Gospels, sacred vessels and vestments, valuable ecclesiastical relics, antiquities and books, as well as objects of special historical and folklore value.

Among other things, heirlooms and documents related to the Greek Revolution of 1821 have a special place, highlighting the multidimensional historical character of the collections.

At the same time, the project acquires an additional digital dimension through the development of innovative interactive digital applications. In the Holy Monastery...
