Archbishop Elpidophoros arrived in Alaska for the inauguration of the Holy Church of the Transfigurationtranslated

The Most Reverend Archbishop of America Mr. Elpidophoros arrived in Anchorage, Alaska yesterday, in order to preside over the inauguration of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, which will be held on Saturday, September 19. The Archbishop is accompanied by His Eminence the Metropolitan of St. Francis, Mr. Gerasimos, the Most Reverend Bishop of Nazianzus, Mr. Athenagoras, the Most Reverend Bishop of Fokaia, Mr. Ioannis and Dimitris Katsiklis, cantor of the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos.

The mission was welcomed by members of the parish, including the vicar of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, Father Vasilios Hillhouse. In the evening, the parish council hosted a dinner in honor of the guests.

Before Saturday's opening, the Archbishop will also attend a dinner honoring the parish's founding families and have the opportunity to experience Alaska's natural landscape up close by visiting the nearby Portage Glacier.
