The talks in the refectory sound like they hit the right note after the feast. I always find it helps to hear something solid about the Theotokos while you’re still tasting the fish and wine from the meal. Did they record any of them?

У меня в Казани на Успение тоже всегда после трапезы в храме батюшка коротко говорит о Богородице, пока все ещё за столом. Полезно, когда не просто поели, а ещё и услышали что-то по делу. А записи этих бесед из Ватопеди есть где-нибудь?

Yeah, those refectory talks after the Dormition feast do settle the mind nicely. I remember one year at Vatopedi the speaker tied the Theotokos’ falling asleep straight to how we handle our own daily “little deaths” like letting go of grudges. Wish they’d posted the recordings too — did you catch any of the talks when you visited?

In our Moscow church, too, after the Assumption meal, the priest always speaks for a couple of minutes, and it’s true that it’s better remembered this way. As for the Vatopedian conversations, I think some are posted on their official YouTube channel, I found them there a couple of times. What church do you usually visit in Kazan?
