Nafplion welcomed the Holy Icon of the Virgin of the Mount of Olives from Jerusalemtranslated

In the Holy Church of the Evangelistria of Nafplion, with the blessing of the Patriarch of Jerusalem Mr. Theophilos, under the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Argolis Mr. Nektarios, the reception of the Holy and Miraculous Icon of the Virgin Mary of the Mount of Olives, from Jerusalem, took place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The Holy Icon was brought to Nafplio by the Most Reverend Archimandrite Mr. Hieronymos, Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher in Greece.

After the Reception which took place in the forecourt of the church in the presence of Priests and a large number of faithful, followed the solemn High Priestly vespers by the Metropolitan of Argolis.

During the Holy services, the choir of the School of Byzantine Music of the Holy Metropolis of Argolis sang, under the direction of the cantor of the Metropolitan church of Agios Georgios and president of the Association of Cantors of Argolis, Mr. Dimitrios Karkalatos. At the end of the evening, the vicar of the church Protopresbyter Fr. Eleftherios Michos thanked the Patriarch of Jerusalem Mr. Theofilos for the permission he gave to bring the Icon of the Virgin Mary from the Holy Land to Nafplio and then the Archimandrite and Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher who transferred the icon to her church...
