New controversy: Mickoski refers to country as “Republic of Macedonia”

May 24, 2024 · 1 min read

VMRO-DPMNE leader and future Prime Minister Christian Mickoski referred to his country as the “Republic of Macedonia” in his congratulatory message to citizens on the occasion of the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

“On my behalf and on behalf of VMRO-DPMNE, I congratulate all the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia on today’s holiday, the Day of the Pan-Slavic enlighteners, the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius,” he stated in his written message, which was posted on his party’s website.

On May 24, North Macedonia, along with other Slavic countries, celebrates the brothers Cyril and Methodius, who are known as the enlighteners of the Slavs. Today is a public holiday in North Macedonia.
