July 29, 2026 · 1 min read

The Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples, U.S. Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, visited Visoki Dečani Monastery on Wednesday, accompanied by KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş and other officials.

The monastery, one of the most significant Serbian Orthodox religious sites in Kosovo, has been under the protection of KFOR peacekeeping forces since 1999.

The delegation was welcomed by the Abbot of Visoki Dečani Monastery, Archimandrite Sava.

Following a tour of the monastery church, Archimandrite Sava briefed Admiral Munsch on the circumstances in which the Serbian Orthodox Church and its faithful live in Kosovo and Metohija.

During their discussion, the Abbot particularly emphasised the importance of ensuring the security of Visoki Dečani Monastery, as well as other Serbian Orthodox churches, monasteries and religious sites in the region.
