Can anyone engage in missionary activity, is there a need for a special calling to go out to preach in public space, and does each diocese need its own missionary movement? We talked about this with the head of the Missionary Society in the name of the martyr Nicholas of Varzhansky in the city of Moscow, Dmitry ZAKHARKIN.

– There are two cornerstone issues related to missionary societies (movements): the canonical foundations of their activities, including the presence of a blessing, and the selection of assets. How is this in the Society of Martyr Nicholas of Varzhansky and what kind of training do members of the missionary Society undergo?

– In Scripture there are such words: “How can we preach if they are not sent?” (Rom. 10:15) Any missionary activity without blessing is displeasing to God and deprives a person of the help of the Holy Spirit. Such an important matter as preaching the Word of God, especially to sectarians, must necessarily be agreed upon with the hierarchy and carried out in full obedience to the Church.
