Award ceremony, “White Flower” event and concert: this is how the VIII meeting of Sunday schools of the Lida diocese endedtranslated

July 21, 2026 · 1 min read

The ceremonial chord of the VIII gathering of Sunday school pupils of the Lida diocese was the awarding of participants in intellectual games and a blessing from the Ruling Bishop, Bishop of Lida and Smorgon Porfiry.

As a result of an intense struggle in intellectual games, the team of the Ivyev deanery “Spring” won, demonstrating deep knowledge of the lives of the Belarusian holy women, including Valentina Minskaya. The second place was won by the Blagovest team from the Church of All Saints in the city of Lida. The team of the Smorgon deanery “Intercessors” closed the top three. Two other teams were awarded medals “For the will to win.” Bishop Porfiry personally presented medals to the winners, and all participants in the rally: teachers, cooks, and assistants received memorable gifts and sweet prizes. Addressing all participants, His Eminence Bishop noted that the days spent together at the rally became a time of spiritual growth, the joy of communication and strengthening in faith. “I was especially pleased to see your sincere interest at the meeting around the fire,” said Bishop Porfiry. Your questions were deep and serious. You were looking for answers about faith, about life, about how to maintain the purity of your soul...

Good thing the "Родник" team from Ivye won, it seems they really knew the holy women of Belarus well, especially Saint Valentine. Bishop Porphyrios did well to distribute the medals to them himself and gave everyone, even the cooks, something sweet. These campfire chats are where the kids stay.

Yes, I agree, "Родник" from Ivye stood out because they really studied the life of St. Valentine of Minsk well. I liked that Bishop Porphyrios also gave the cooks and helpers sweets, so you feel that everyone counts. Have you been to such a campfire and talk?

Yes, "Родник" from Ivie had indeed prepared well for Valentina Minsk, we saw it from their answers. I liked that Porphyry also gave sweets to the cooks and helpers, it shows that everyone's work counts. I went to a similar camp near Limassol last year, with a fire at night and questions from the children, but not as big as Linda's. How did you learn this fact?

Yes, "Родник" from Ivie really stood out with her knowledge of Valentina Minsk. It's good that Porphyrios remembered the cooks and the assistants, work in the kitchen counts for a lot in such camps. I learned about it from our parish page in Heraklion, which uploaded it yesterday afternoon. What questions did the children ask about the fire last year in Limassol?
