The Bell Heritage Museum opens in the Trinity-Sergius Lavratranslated

Prikhody.ru 09/24/2026. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' blessed the creation of a museum of bell art in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. It will be placed on the first floor of the bell tower, where a temporary exhibition dedicated to the bell heritage of the monastery is currently being held.

According to the press service of the Lavra, the museum will introduce visitors to the centuries-old history of bell ringing in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and will reveal its liturgical and cultural significance. Guests will find here answers to questions about how new bells are cast and what the old, now lost samples that once sounded in the monastery looked like. At the museum belfry they will be shown various ringing techniques and techniques, and will be told about the famous bell ringers of the Lavra and its benefactors.

Among the exhibits are ancient bells that survived many tragic episodes of Russian history, fragments of bells that suffered at the hands of the atheistic Soviet government, in particular a found fragment of the Tsar Bell thrown from the bell tower, and much more. The main exhibit of the museum will be the active bell tower of the monastery itself. Excursions to it will begin with a tour of the exhibition.
