Diocese of Brisbane: The Solemnity of the First Assumption Cathedral Mt Gravatttranslated

The Theophilus Bishop of Brisbane, Mr. Bartholomeus, on the Mother of God feast of the Dormition of the Virgin, officiated at the Service of the Annunciation and presided over the Solemn Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of the same name in Mt Gravatt, Brisbane. He was flanked by the Priestly Head of the Holy Church, Fr. Nikolaos Brown, his co-priest, Fr. Panagiotis Simos, and Deacon Porphyrios Aggeli.

During the Divine Liturgy, the Encyclical of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Australia Mr. Makarios was read, where His Eminence referred to the importance of the holiday and its eternal spiritual value for the faithful of our time.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, a litany of the holy icon of the Theotokos took place, in which the faithful participated enthusiastically, honoring the Mother of God.

This was followed by a meal in the parish hall, during which His Holiness conveyed to everyone the paternal love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and urged the faithful to continue praying to the Blessed Virgin Mary for His Eminence, who works tirelessly and with great devotion for progress...

Thanks for the news. It's nice to see that the Assumption was celebrated so well in Brisbane - both the liturgy, and the procession with the icon, and a joint lunch afterwards. It was especially touching that Bishop Bartholomew asked to pray for Archbishop Macarius, this is correct. In Vinnytsia, too, we always gather for a joint meal after the Assumption, and I bake my own bread.
