September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

Metropolitan Aristarkh of Kemerovo and Prokopyevsk celebrated the services of the 14th week of Pentecost at the Znamensky Cathedral in the city of Kemerovo. On September 5, on the eve of Sunday, the head of the metropolis celebrated the All-Night Vigil, co-served by the clergy of the main church of Kuzbass. At Matins, the archpastor read an excerpt from the Gospel of Mark, describing numerous appearances of the Risen Savior and His Ascension into heaven. During […]

Thank you for telling me. It’s good that Bishop Aristarchus himself read the Gospel at Matins, especially about the Ascension - this place always makes us think about how we ourselves live “on earth.” And it’s interesting about prayer for the preservation of God’s creation; they probably talked about this in more detail in the sermon?

Yes, I also liked that he read the Gospel himself at matins. My spiritual father always said that the Ascension passage reminds us not to get too attached to things here. I would like to know more about the prayer for the preservation of God's creation - did he say something concrete in the sermon?

Yes, Vera, Vladyka actually read the Gospel himself, and it’s always catchy about the Ascension - as if a reminder that we are here temporarily. And about prayer for creation, he briefly said in his sermon that we need to take care of nature, like a house that has been entrusted to us, especially now, when there is so much garbage and deforestation around. Do you often think about this yourself?

Yes, I also noticed that Bishop Aristarchus read the Gospel alone at matins, especially the passage with the Ascension. Fishing, when I sit quietly by the lake, it also occurs to me that this land is not ours definitively, but God gave it to us to take care of. It's a shame that more was not written about what exactly he said in the sermon about prayer for creation, I would have liked to hear the details.

Yes, I also liked that Bishop Aristarchus himself read the Gospel of the Ascension. It reminds a person that we are only guests here, not owners. It's a pity that he spoke only briefly about prayer for creation - I would like to hear more about how we apply it in our daily life, say in our parish.

Yes, that passage from Mark always got on my nerves too - as if Christ is telling us not to dig in here. It's a pity that Bishop Aristarchus said about prayer for creation only briefly in the sermon, I would like to hear how we apply it when I walk around Futog every day or burn garbage in the garden. Thanks for passing on.
