Metropolitan Alexy celebrated the all-night vigil at St. Simeon's Cathedraltranslated

September 3, 2026 · 1 min read

On the eve of the celebration of the transfer of the relics of St. Peter, Metropolitan of Moscow and All Rus', the Wonderworker, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrated an all-night vigil in the St. Simeon Cathedral. During the service, an excerpt from the Gospel of Mark (Mark 16:9-20) was read, which talks about how the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to Mary Magdalene after the Resurrection from the dead. She announced this to the apostles, but they did not believe her. Then the Lord Himself appears to the disciples and sends them to preach the Gospel throughout the world. During the reading of the canon, Metropolitan Alexy anointed the believers with consecrated oil. At the end of the service, the cathedral clergy performed the troparion “Under Your Mercy,” dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos. Metropolitan Alexy cordially congratulated the parishioners on Sunday, thanked them for their joint prayer, and wished God’s help in all matters and a Guardian Angel on their way. Tomorrow, on the day of remembrance of St. Peter of Moscow, the archpastor will perform the Divine Liturgy and prayer service for the preservation of God's creation in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ.

The service starts at 9:45. CDRO Chelyabinsk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. All rights reserved.
