A Place Where People Return: A Liturgy Was Celebrated in an Abandoned Church in Kostroma Oblasttranslated

On September 26, 2026, during the feast of the church's patronal feast – the Resurrection of the Lord, a Liturgy was celebrated in the abandoned Resurrection Church of the Neronovo estate in Kostroma Oblast.

The arrival of residents from nearby villages and districts for the divine service, as well as the lunch and festive tea for them, was organized by the "Conservation" project, which is saving the church from destruction, reported to the "Foma" magazine by the press service of this project.
The Liturgy was served by the dean of the Chukhlomsky and Soligalichsky districts, Father Alexander Smirnov.

After the service, an excursion was organized for its participants – believers learned about the rich history of the estate and the ongoing restoration.
— Each time prayer resounds again in the Resurrection Church, it seems that Neronovo literally comes alive and momentarily sheds the burden of time. This, perhaps, is the most important thing – the church once again becomes a place where people return, — shared the coordinator of the "Conservation" project, Stepan Yanin.
