Martyrs, monks, queens or mothers, the saints celebrated in October followed different paths, but were animated by the same desire: union with Christ.

Among them we meet trembling models of repentance, such as Saints Pelagia and Taisia, martyrs who bravely endured terrible torments, such as Saints Haritina and Hrisi, but also a saint contemporary with the Holy Apostles, Tavita.

St. Nana, Queen of Georgia – October 1

Saint Nana was the wife of King Mirian of Georgia, also canonized on the same day. The two ruled in the 4th century the Kingdom of Iberia, located in present-day eastern Georgia. During their reign, both they and the people were converted to Christianity following the preaching of the Gospel by Saint Nina.

Queen Nana was originally from Pontus and became a Christian before her husband after being miraculously healed by Saint Nina.

King Mirian was originally from Iran and practiced Zoroastrianism. While hunting, he suddenly went blind, but through the prayers of Saint Nina, he regained his sight. He believed in Christ, was baptized and became the first king...

St. I was particularly interested in Nana because she converted before her husband and then it helped the whole kingdom. The part about Mirian on the hunt when he goes blind and thanks to Nina he can see again is really powerful. I wonder if October 1st is also celebrated together with her in our church.
