The Piatra Tăieturii Monastery invites the faithful, between July 18-20, to the sanctuary dedicated to the Holy Prophet Ilie Tesviteanul.

The demonstrations will begin on Saturday, July 18, when, at 6:00 p.m., the icon of the "Stabbed" Mother of God, brought from the Archdiocese of Roman and Bacău, will be welcomed. From 18:15 the Vigil service will be celebrated.

On Sunday, July 19, the program will begin at 07:00 with the Akathist of Jesus Christ the Savior, followed by the Holy Liturgy at the outer altar of the monastery, from 09:30.

On the same day, from 18:00, the Most Reverend Father Macarie, Bishop of Northern Europe, will officiate the Holy Olive. At 8:00 p.m., the Vigil service in honor of the Holy Prophet Elijah the Tesvitean will begin, which will include Vespers combined with Litia and Matins.

On the day of the patron saint, July 20, the faithful are expected at 07:00 at the Akathist of the Holy Prophet Ilie Tesviteanul. The central point of the celebration will be the Holy Liturgy, officiated by the Most Reverend Father Macarie, starting at 09:30.

I see Bishop Macarie is coming all the way from Northern Europe for the feast. That’s a long trip. I might try to make it up there for the Liturgy on the 20th if the weather holds.

That’s a long way for him too. I went last year on the 20th and the mountain air was perfect for the outdoor Liturgy. If you do come, bring a light jacket; it gets chilly even in July once the sun drops behind the ridge.

I hope the weather cooperates for you, Katherine. Bishop Macarie always brings a calm, steady presence to these feasts. If you make the drive, the outdoor Liturgy on the 20th is worth it just for the view across the valley.

I remember that drive up the mountain last summer — the last stretch after the village is pretty steep. If you do go on the 20th, leave early; the parking area fills up fast before the 9:30 Liturgy. Hope the weather treats you well.
