The procession with the Suknevichi Icon of the Mother of God proceeded from Smorgon to Suknevichitranslated

On July 12, a religious procession was held in the Smorgon deanery with the locally revered Suknevich miraculous icon of the Mother of God. He proceeded from the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Smorgon to the Church of the Holy Spirit in the village of Suknevichi, to the place of permanent residence of the icon.

The procession was attended by priests and parishioners of the Smorgon deanery, as well as pilgrims from Oshmyany and Molodechno.

After the Sunday Divine Liturgy, pilgrims chanted from the Transfiguration Cathedral along the central street of the city. They had to walk about six kilometers. Upon arrival, the clergy served an akathist at the miraculous icon with folk singing.

As Archpriest Anatoly noted, there is no more life-giving prayer than the conciliar prayer: “Rejoice, our Joy, cover us from all evil with Your honest omophorion.”

It was gratifying to see that “both old and young” took part in the procession. And even young families with babies, not afraid of physical difficulties, fed their little children with spiritual food on this day.
