IPS Nifon celebrates its name daytranslated

His Holiness Father Nifon, Archbishop of Târgovişta, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch celebrates his name day on Tuesday, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Hierarch Nifon, Patriarch of Constantinople.
His Eminence was born on January 5, 1944, in the town of Crețești-Vidra, Giurgiu county, receiving the baptismal name Nicolae. His theological training began at the Orthodox High School Theological Seminary in Bucharest, which he attended between 1959 and 1964, continuing with his studies at the University Degree Theological Institute in Bucharest.
After graduation, he attended doctoral courses at the Theological Institute in Bucharest, and between 1971 and 1974 he continued his training at King's College of the University of London. His academic career also included postgraduate studies at the Anglican College of Jerusalem, the University of Geneva and the Catholic University of Ottawa "St. Paul".
In 1994, he defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Oradea, with the paper "The Prophet Micah. Introduction, Theology and Exegesis".
