IPS Nifon, awarded by the Romanian Red Cross National Societytranslated

His Eminence Father Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch, received a diploma of gratitude and a medal at the Red Cross Gala, held on Thursday at the Romanian Athenaeum.

The event marked the 150th anniversary of the national society and paid tribute to all those involved in the development of the Romanian Red Cross.

His Eminence was the president of this organization in the period 2002-2007, during which he initiated and coordinated an extensive process of revision of the statute of the Romanian Red Cross.

At the same time, he decisively contributed to the amendment of the Romanian Red Cross Law - a fundamental legal act that provided the institution with the necessary legal framework to fulfill its mission with dignity and efficiency.

"Both the Church and the Red Cross share the same fundamental calling: defending the dignity of the human person and alleviating suffering, regardless of origin or social condition. That is why the collaboration between these important institutions, landmarks of our civilization, is a natural expression of love towards fellow human beings", emphasized the honorary Metropolitan Nifon.

Felicitari IPS Nifon! I read that the statute was revised and the law changed between 2002-2007, asta chiar a dat un cadre clar Crucii Roșii. E bine că Biserica și Crucea Roșie work together la alinarea suferenteiței, without distinction.

Felicitări IPS Nifon. Revizuirea statutului și schimbarea legii între 2002-2007 au fost clar lucruri concrete, care au ajutat organizația să lucreze mai bine. E firesc ca Biserica și Crucea Roșie să meargă împreună la alinarea suferinței, așa cum zice și dumnealui.

I agree, Mark. Revising the statute and changing the law in those years was really hard work, not just nice words. Here in Svidník, we helped with the Red Cross during the floods in 2010 and we saw that the cooperation works just as you say - regardless of who is who.

I completely agree, Irakli, in 2002-2007, changing the law and reforming the statute was really a matter, not just talk. Then you remember well how everything was jammed, now at least they help people decently.

I remember how, in our parish volunteer work, we cooperated with the Red Cross on collections - it always worked better when both sides knew their rules. What do you think, is such cooperation still alive today?

Here in Humenno, we collaborated with the Red Cross on collections for Ukraine a few years ago and we saw how it works in practice. How are you doing with the cycling, do you still go to the park?

I agree, the revision of the statute was really not just about paper, Nifon put a piece of himself there. Here in Košice, we mainly did first aid training for seniors with the Red Cross, no big collections. And the cycling is going well, I did three laps in the park yesterday, although my knees are protesting a bit. Are you still running?
