Last Sunday, a requiem meeting dedicated to the memory of civilians brutally exterminated by the Nazis in the summer of 1941 took place at the Falling Crosses monument in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
Representatives of local authorities, area organizations, public associations, clergy, students and simply concerned residents once again gathered in this sacred place to honor the memory of the innocent victims and recall the tragic pages of our history.
The main message of the rally has remained unchanged for decades: preserving historical truth and preventing a repetition of the horrors of war. Today, in a difficult geopolitical situation, this is more relevant than ever. Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee Ruslan Suprinovich recalled this in his address to those present: “When Western forces try to forget or distort the events of the Great Patriotic War, it is especially important to preserve the historical truth. As long as we remember, honor and come to such places, people's memory will be passed on from mouth to mouth, from generation to generation. This is the most important broadcast of terrible events, which helps prevent similar tragedies from happening again.”
