On July 24, 2026, the cleric of the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in Brest, Priest Mikhail Derkach, took part in the oath-taking ceremony for young employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which took place on the territory of the Brest Fortress.

After the words of the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Valery Stanislavovich Rudolf, Priest Mikhail Derkach addressed the new employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as the officers and relatives present. The priest wished the young workers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations God's help in carrying out their service, and drew their attention to the fact that the words of the oath should be kept in their hearts all their lives. After the congratulatory speech, Father Mikhail sprinkled everyone with holy water.

At the end of the ceremony, Priest Mikhail, together with the leadership of the Brest Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in the memorial complex.

After completing the protocol part of taking the oath, the rescuers proceeded to the garrison Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, where Father Mikhail performed a prayer service to invoke the help of the Holy Spirit before starting any good deed.
