ERT to broadcast Ecumenical Patriarch’s 65th Anniversary celebration and Dormition Liturgy from Imbros

Greece’s public broadcaster ERT will air two special live broadcasts from the island of Imbros this August, covering both the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s ordination to the diaconate and the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

According to an ERT press release, ERT3 and ERT Cosmos will broadcast live on Thursday, August 13, at 9:00 a.m. from the Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Imbros. The Divine Liturgy will be presided over by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and concelebrated by Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa and Archbishop Ioannis of Albania.

The service marks the Ecumenical Patriarch’s 65 years of ordained ministry, commemorating his ordination as a deacon on August 13, 1961, in the same church in his native Imbros.

Two days later, on Saturday, August 15, at 9:00 a.m., ERT3 and ERT Cosmos will provide live coverage of the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos from the Church of the Annunciation in the mountain village of Agioi Theodoroi (Agridia) on Imbros.
