Bishop Vikenty celebrated a memorial service at the monument cross in Znamenskytranslated

August 11, 2026 · 1 min read

Bishop Vikenty of Tara and Tyukalinsky performed a funeral litany at the cross-monument erected in the regional village of Znamenskoye in memory of the victims of political repression.

The archpastor offered prayers for the repose of the souls of all the innocent victims during the years of godless persecution, asking the Lord for forgiveness and mercy.

At the end of the service, the bishop addressed those gathered with a pastoral word, in which he called on them to preserve historical memory and pray for the Fatherland.

At the foot of the cross are inscribed the words: “Let there never be more victims, and let repentance be accomplished in Russia” - a reminder for all subsequent generations about the tragic pages of history and the need for spiritual transformation.

Thank you for telling me. The cross has been standing in Znamensky for a long time, I heard about it, but I didn’t know that Vladyka Vikenty came there. The words on it are very precise - “let there never be more victims”, every time I read it I get goosebumps. I will pray for the repose of those who suffered.
