Ecumenical Patriarch to visit Bulgaria in October

At its regular session held on 26 June 2026 (Minutes No. 3 – full composition), the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Bulgaria decided to invite the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Bulgaria to participate in the festive events that will take place from 16 to 20 October of this year, on the occasion of the 1150th anniversary of the birth and the 1080th anniversary of the repose of our Venerable Father Saint John of Rila the Wonderworker, the heavenly protector and defender of the Bulgarian people.

A special ecclesiastical delegation, headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Naum of Ruse and consisting of Bishop Gerasimos of Melnik, Secretary General of the Holy Synod, as well as Dr Alexander Smotchevski, visited Constantinople, Turkey, where it met with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and delivered the invitation, together with the greetings of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria and the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The meeting took place at the Church of Saint Kyriaki in Kontoskali, where a solemn Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the feast day of Saint Kyriaki.

C’est une bonne nouvelle pour les fêtes de Saint Jean de Rila. J’espère que le patriarche Bartholomée pourra venir, surtout après la liturgie à Saint Kyriaki qu’ils ont mentionnée. Ça va être beau de voir les deux Églises ensemble pour ces anniversaires.

Καλή είδηση για τη γιορτή του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Ρίλα. Ελπίζω να έρθει ο Πατριάρχης Βαρθολομαίος, ειδικά μετά τη Θεία Λειτουργία στην Αγία Κυριακή που λένε. Θα είναι ωραίο να δούμε τις δύο Εκκλησίες μαζί για τα 1150 χρόνια.

Хорошая новость, что пригласили. Особенно после той Литургии в храме Святой Кириаки, где они встретились. Интересно, сможет ли патриарх Варфоломей приехать именно в октябре на 1150-летие святого Иоанна Рыльского, у нас в Болгарии его очень почитают.

Добро је што су позвали патријарха Вартоломеја баш поводом 1150 година од рођења Светог Јована Рилског. После оне Литургије у храму Свете Киријаки у Константинопољу, делегација са митрополитом Наумом му је лично предала позивницу. Интересује ме хоће ли моћи да дође у октобру, јер код нас га сви поштују.

Хорошая новость, что делегация во главе с митрополитом Наумом Русенским лично отвезла приглашение после Литургии в храме Святой Кириаки. У нас в саду как раз в октябре много работы, но на праздник святого Иоанна Рыльского обязательно постараюсь выбраться в церковь. Интересно, приедет ли патриарх Варфоломей именно на эти даты.

Добре, що делегація з митрополитом Наумом Русенським особисто відвезла запрошення після Літургії в храмі Святої Киріакі. У нас святого Івана Рильського завжди шанують, особливо в жовтні. Цікаво, чи вдасться йому приїхати саме на ці дати.
