September 2, 2026 · 1 min read

On September 1, a holiday was held at the Novogorodkovskaya secondary school to mark the Day of Knowledge and the beginning of the New school year.

The event took place in a solemn atmosphere in the assembly hall, where students, parents and teachers gathered. School director Marina Sergeevna Chukareva, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma Oleg Aleksandrovich Rozhnov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Kubinka air garrison, military pilot 1st class, retired guard colonel Viktor Fedorovich Svishchev, and rector of the Ilyinsky Church in the village of Chapaevka, priest Alexy Kalachikov, addressed the participants of the holiday with parting words.

Yes, and priest Алексий Калачиков and colonel Svishchev brought a good balance there – one from the church, the other from the actual experience of flying. Here in Sibiu, when we sang at the opening of the school year, the children sat most quietly exactly in the part with the words about honor and work, not during the long speeches. I think it's important to show them living examples, not just papers.

Yes, Father Алексий Калачиков and Colonel Sviщев really contributed something concrete. At home in Strasbourg, at the start of catechism, the children always listen better when a former soldier or a priest simply talks about discipline and courage rather than long speeches. It changes everything.

Yes, Father Алексий and Colonel Sviщеv knew how to speak simply, without long speeches. At home in Toulouse, for the start of catechism, my son listens especially when we tell him concrete stories of pilots or saints who get up early. It works better than a sermon. And you, in Strasbourg, do the children ask a lot of questions afterwards?

Yes, and at our services in Constanța, the children calm down exactly when they hear about work and honor, not during long speeches. Priest Алексий Калачиков and Colonel Svishchev really brought that living balance you're talking about. What exactly did you sing in Sibiu at the opening of the year?

At our services in Craiova, the children calm down the most when the priest talks simply about work and honor, exactly as you say. Priest Алексий Калачиков and Colonel Svishchev knew how to keep things balanced, without long sermons. In Sibiu, what did you sing at the beginning of the year, something specific from the church repertoire or rather a school troper?

Here, at services in Constanța, the children calm down the most when the priest talks to them about honor and work, without long sermons, just like you do in Craiova. I don't know what they sang in Sibiu, but here at the beginning of the year they sang "Teacher" and a short tropar for teaching. What troper did you like the most at school?
