Do what you have to do. What does the example of John the Baptist tell us?translated

Jesus Christ highly valued John the Baptist and once even called him the greatest prophet: I tell you: among those born of women there is not a single prophet greater than John the Baptist (Luke 7:28). However, from a purely human point of view, it is difficult to agree with this assessment. John's prophetic ministry ends at the peak of his popularity, he is thrown into prison, executed at the whim of the queen, and his remains are thrown into a latrine. How did this greatness manifest itself?

Indeed, if we evaluate the personality of John the Baptist from the point of view of ordinary ideas of success, it seems that he was a complete fiasco. We are accustomed to thinking that the value of our work in our own eyes is determined by whether we felt its result. If you build a house, you have to live in it, you plant a tree, you enjoy its fruits, you give birth to a son, you see how he became a successful person. In other words, if you have already started a business, then you must definitely see it completed.
But the Gospel invites us to look at this from a different angle. Each person has his own mission on earth. It falls to some people to start, to others to continue, to others...
