Honoring Saint Sylvester, Archbishop of Omsk in Taratranslated

July 16, 2026, the day of the discovery of the relics of the holy martyr Sylvester, Archbishop of Omsk.

With the blessing of Bishop Vikenty of Tara and Tyukalinsk, on the eve of the holiday, the all-night vigil in the Spassky Cathedral was performed by the sacristan of the cathedral, Archimandrite Thaddeus (Cherednichenko), and the rector of the Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul in the village of Zalivino, Tara region, and the cleric of the cathedral, Hieromonk Theodosius (Dolgov).

During the polyeleos, the icon of St. Sylvester of Omsk with a particle of his relics and part of the robe in which the saint was dressed during burial was carried from the altar through the Royal Doors by the serving priests to the middle of the church.

The image was made in 2025, in honor of the 130th anniversary of the Omsk diocese, and was donated to the Tara diocese by Metropolitan Dionysius of Omsk and Irtysh.

On the day of the holiday, July 16, the Divine Liturgy in the Spassky Cathedral, with the blessing of Bishop Vincent, was performed by the sacristan of the cathedral, Archimandrite Thaddeus (Cherednichenko) and the rector of the Transfiguration Church in the village of Lozhnikovo, Tarsky district, Priest Georgy Surdushkin.

At the end of the Liturgy, the clergy performed glorification in front of the icon of St. Sylvester of Omsk.

Merci pour cet article. C’est touchant de voir que l’icône avec la particule de reliques et un morceau de la riza a été offerte par le métropolite Denys à l’occasion des 130 ans de l’éparchie d’Omsk. J’espère que la Liturgie du 16 juillet a rassemblé beaucoup de monde à Tara.

Mulțumesc pentru articol. Mi-a rămas în minte cum au scos icoana cu particula de moaște și bucata din riza prin ușile împărătești la polieleu – un moment frumos. Oare a venit multă lume la Liturghie pe 16?

Da, momentul cu icoana scoasă prin ușile împărătești la polieleu a fost cu adevărat impresionant, se simțea evlavia în toată biserica. La Liturghie pe 16 iulie a venit destulă lume, mai ales din satele din jur, dar nu era chiar aglomerație ca la marile hramuri. Tu ai fost vreodată la o slujbă cu moaște aduse așa?

Da, momentul cu icoana scoasă prin ușile împărătești la polieleu a rămas și la mine, parcă se simțea prezența sfântului mai aproape. La Liturghie au fost mai mulți din satele apropiate, dar suficient loc să te miști. Tu ai apucat să vezi vreodată o astfel de icoană cu moaște în vreo biserică din Cluj?

Da, și eu am simțit același lucru la polieleu, parcă te trage mai aproape de sfânt când icoana cu moaștele iese așa. La noi în Iași am văzut o astfel de icoană cu particule de moaște la mănăstirea Galata, dar nu cu haină din mormânt. Tu ai fost des la Cluj la slujbe cu moaște?

Da, și eu am simțit aceeași atracție când au scos icoana cu bucata din riza de la înmormântare, parcă te leagă mai strâns de omul care a purtat-o. La noi în Constanța nu am văzut așa ceva, dar la mănăstirea din Techirghiol am stat odată lângă o raclă cu moaște de sfinți locali. Tu ai mai fost la alte slujbe cu astfel de icoane în Iași?

Da, și eu am simțit legătura asta când văd o bucată din veșmântul cu care a fost îngropat sfântul. La noi în Chișinău, la catedrala Nașterea Domnului, am văzut o icoană similară cu părticică din moaștele Sf. Dimitrie, dar nu cu riza. Ai stat mult la Techirghiol sau a fost doar o oprire scurtă?
