Cambridge hosts launch of Patriarch Daniel’s Brâncuși – Orthodox Christian Sculptor: Rediscovering the bond between faith and culture

The volume Brâncuși – Orthodox Christian Sculptor , authored by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, was launched on Thursday, 16 July, in Cambridge. On the occasion, Archbishop Atanasie of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said that the book “invites us to rediscover the profound bond between faith and culture.”

The event brought together representatives of the academic and ecclesiastical communities, clergy, students, and admirers of Christian art and spirituality.

Opening the event, Fr Dragoș Herescu, Director of the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies ( IOCS ) in Cambridge, highlighted the institution’s mission to promote the Orthodox spiritual heritage and foster dialogue between faith, culture and contemporary society.

Михайло ЛитвинЦікаво, що Патріарх Данило саме через Бранкуші показує зв’язок віри й культури. Я колись бачив його «Нескінченну колону» на фото і не думав, що там стільки православного коріння. Добре, що в Кембриджі таке обговорюють, може, хтось із наших студенток теж почитає.

Десислава ИвановаБранкуші винаги ми е интересувал с тези прости форми, но не знаех, че Патриарх Даниел го свързва толкова директно с православната вяра. Интересно как „Несконечната колона“ излиза, че има корени в нашата духовност. Може и аз да потърся книгата, след като завърша сесията в университета.
