According to the established long-standing tradition, parishioners of the St. Nicholas Church at the Ural State University of Yekaterinburg gathered in the morning to pray together at the Divine Liturgy, which was led by the rector, Archpriest Igor Bachinin, chairman of the John the Baptist Brotherhood “Soberness” of the Russian Orthodox Church, head of the Department for the Promotion of Sobriety and Prevention of Addictions of the Yekaterinburg Diocese. At the end of the service, 21 people took a vow of sobriety, among them four children: looking at their parents, they also want to live soberly.

“The children were happy to receive teetotaler badges; it seems that it was a very joyful event for them,” Nadezhda Golik shared her impressions. She herself and her two daughters took a vow of sobriety and also received the badges of the John the Baptist Brotherhood “Sobriety”, which are issued to people who have lived under a vow of sobriety for at least three years. After the prayer service, everyone was given a letter of vow, which they will keep at home in the “red corner”, next to the icons, and read the prayer promise during the morning and evening rules, reminding themselves of the word given to God.

It is nice that the children took the badges with their families. Four young children decide to live like their parents. This is a joyous thing. In Homs, we also try to grow this habit at home, but the badge is a new idea for me. Can I ask about it?
