The archpastors held an all-night vigil in the church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Unexpected Joy” in Chelyabinsktranslated

On the eve of the feast of the icon of the Mother of God “Three-Handed”, Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan and Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass held an all-night vigil in the church consecrated in honor of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Unexpected Joy” on the territory of Chelyabinsk City Hospital No. 1. The archpastors were served by the honorary rector of the temple Archpriest Mikhail Gorbunov and rector Kirill Gorbunov with the clergy. Sisters of mercy and volunteers prayed during the service. During the service, an akathist to the “Three-Handed” icon of the Mother of God was read. Metropolitan Vincent anointed the parishioners with blessed oil. In his sermon, Bishop Vincent recalled that during the Turkish invasion of Serbia, Christians, wanting to preserve the icon, entrusted it to the care of the Mother of God Herself. They placed the image on a donkey, which came to Athos and stopped in front of the Serbian Hilandar monastery. The Mother of God deigned to accept the abbot herself, and Her icon took the abbot’s place in the temple. “Every day the inhabitants of the monastery come to the icon to receive obedience for the coming day. The Mother of God always hears our requests. But one condition must be observed: one must live on earth for the Kingdom of Heaven. Let's remember what this is...
