The archpastor performed an akathist to the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christtranslated

On August 21, Friday of the 12th week after Pentecost, His Eminence Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary performed the akathist to the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ. With the blessing of the Ruling Bishop, during the Dormition Fast, this prayer sequence is performed instead of an akathist before the locally revered image of the Most Holy Theotokos “Seeking the Lost” Tiraspol. His Eminence was served by the clergy of the cathedral, as well as the clergy of the Church of the Intercession, Archpriest Nikolai Chepel and Archpriest Vyacheslav Chuprin. The Dormition Fast is a time of special prayerful appeal to the Mother of God and spiritual preparation for the feast of Her Dormition. The performance of an akathist to the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos these days is intended to help believers focus on the mystery of the transition of the Most Pure Virgin from earthly life to eternal existence.
Before the start of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Vladyka Savva performed a proskomedia commemoration of patrons, benefactors and all Orthodox Christians entrusted to his archpastoral care, offering prayers for the health and salvation of the living and for the repose of the departed.
