On August 09, 2026, on the eve of Monday of the 11th week after Pentecost, the day of celebration of the memory of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, called “Hodegetria” (Guide), St. Pitirim, Bishop of Tambov, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin celebrated the festive All-Night Vigil in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Vezhnoe monastery courtyard of the Holy Nativity of the Mother of God convent in Brest, which houses a particularly revered self-renewed copy of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, called “Hodegetria”.
The visit of the ruling Bishop to the convent was timed to coincide with the Youth Orthodox seminar-meeting of the Brest diocese “Unity 2026”. This year’s seminar-gathering brought together participants in the movements of youth brotherhoods of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
Concelebrating with His Eminence were: Chairman of the Department for Work with Youth of the Brest Diocese, Priest Pavel Romanovich; confessors of youth brotherhoods of the Brest diocese.
The diaconal rank was headed by the cleric of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Brest, Deacon Konstantin Kiselyuk.
