His Eminence Father Joachim, Archbishop of Roman and Bacău, celebrates his name day on the day of honoring the Holy and Righteous Fathers Joachim and Ana.

His Eminence was born on March 29, 1954, in Stănița commune, Neamț county, receiving the baptismal name Ilie.

His monastic career began in his youth, when, in the period 1970-1971, he was ordained at the Sihăstria Monastery. He studied at the "Veniamin Costachi" Orthodox Theological Seminary from the Neamț Monastery, then the University Degree Theological Institute in Bucharest, from which he graduated in 1980.

In the same year, he was ordained a monk at the Bistrita Monastery, having Archimandrite Ioanichie Bălan as his godfather. In 1981 he was ordained hierodeacon by Patriarch Teoctist (at that time Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina), being ordained archdeacon the following year.

From 1985, he worked at the Diocesan Center in Iasi, where he fulfilled several responsibilities, including that of first archdeacon of the Metropolitan Cathedral. In 1990 he became the secretary of the Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel, who was at that time the Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina.

Thanks for this article. It is interesting that in 1970-1971, young Joakim was already in sesery, even before the seminary. God bless you with health and long service, Reverend.

It is interesting that already at the age of 19 he went to Sikhastria, even before the seminary. And then he was tonsured by Ioanikije Balan himself in Bistrica. May God bless him for many years to come.
