Archbishop of America arrived in Alaska for consecration

Yesterday, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived in Anchorage, Alaska, where he will preside over the consecration of Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday, September 19.
Traveling alongside the Archbishop are Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco; Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos; Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea; and Dimitri Katsiklis, Master Chanter at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine.
Parish members greeted the group, including Fr. Vasili Hillhouse, Holy Transfiguration Church’s parish priest. In the evening, the church’s parish council shared a welcome dinner with the guests.
Ahead of Saturday’s consecration, the Archbishop will also attend a Founding Families dinner and spend time in the Alaskan landscape, visiting the nearby Portage Glacier.
