A New Orthodox Mission in Grove City, Pennsylvania

Grove City, PA – With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, and with the support and guidance of His Grace Bishop Andrei of Cleveland, a new mission community is taking shape in Grove City, Pennsylvania, under the pastoral care of Rev. Fr. Spyridon Ickes.
Fr. Spyridon has begun celebrating the Holy and Divine Liturgy for Orthodox faithful in the area, with services scheduled for the first and third Saturdays of each month. Twenty-seven people attended the recent Divine Liturgy, despite road closures around the gathering place due to a local parade.
The community currently gathers in a Methodist church, where an agreement provides use of the space for an initial three-month period. Arrangements for a longer-term place of worship will be explored as the mission develops.
Fr. Spyridon also works with the Orthodox college ministry in Grove City, providing opportunities to serve Orthodox students and welcome them into the life of the new community. Many students were unable to attend the recent service because of a college event.
Please keep Fr. Spyridon and the faithful of this new community in your…
