100 years of the Dormition Church of Ano Verbena (1926-2026)translated

Today, July 25, 2026, the feast of the Dormition of Saint Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was celebrated with particular splendor in the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in the mountainous and picturesque village of Verbena Kynouria, as well as the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of the Holy Church by the blessed Metropolitan of Mantineia and Kynouria Mr. Germanos Silk (1926). The Orthros and the solemn Divine Liturgy were celebrated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Mantineia and Kynouria Mr. Epiphanios, flanked by priests.

Before the dismissal, the vicar of the Church, Father Petros Dimakos, made a reference to the history of the Holy Church.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan Mr. Epiphanios in the Hadrian of the village held a memorial prayer for the repose of the blessed Verbeniots, while afterwards wreaths were laid and poems were recited by students.

The Member of Parliament for Arcadia, Mr. Giannakouras, the Mayor of North Kynouria, Mr. Kambylis, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, Mr. Economou, as well as other representatives of local authorities and agencies of the region were present.
