📜 Život svätého
Veľkomučeník Prokopios z Cézarey bol rímsky vojak, ktorý žil počas prenasledovania kresťanov za cisára Diokleciána. Je pripomínaný ako veľký mučeník, čo znamená jeho hlboké svedectvo viery. Podľa tradície Prokopius, slúžiaci v armáde v Cézarei v Palestíne, otvorene vyznával svoju kresťanskú vieru a odmietal sa zúčastňovať na cisárskom kulte alebo prinášať obete modlám. Jeho vytrvalé odmietanie viedlo k jeho zatknutiu a následnej mučeníctve. Presný dátum jeho smrti nie je zaznamenaný v spoľahlivých zdrojoch, ale došlo k nej počas rozsiahleho prenasledovania kresťanov na začiatku štvrtého storočia, pravdepodobne okolo roku 303 nášho letopočtu. O jeho živote je okrem jeho odvážneho postoja ku Kristovi zdokumentované len málo iného. Cirkev si uctieva jeho pamiatku nie za konkrétne skutky alebo zázraky zaznamenané v starovekých textoch, ale za jeho neochvejné vyznanie viery a jeho najvyššiu obetu, keď obetoval svoj život za Pána. - Vzhľad „Kazanskej“ ikony Najsvätejšej Bohorodičky (1579)

Vzhľad kazaňskej ikony Najsvätejšej Bohorodičky sa pripomína 27. augusta (nový štýl). Podľa tradície bola táto uctievaná ikona objavená v roku 1579 v ruinách kostola Premenenia Pána v Kazani po dobytí mesta ruskými jednotkami pod vedením cára Ivana IV. Ikona zobrazujúca Bohorodičku držiacu Ježiška bola nájdená ukrytá v stene, ktorá sa zachovala pri zničení kostola. K jeho objaveniu došlo počas obdobia veľkých nepokojov pre ruský štát, ktoré sa zhodovalo s konsolidáciou ruskej ríše po páde Kazane, hlavného tatárskeho hlavného mesta. Ikona sa stala hlboko uctievanou ako ochranca ruského ľudu. Bol vynesený do boja a spájaný s božskou pomocou v časoch národnej krízy, najmä v čase problémov na začiatku 17. storočia. Hoci presné okolnosti jeho objavenia zostávajú súčasťou živej tradície Cirkvi, jeho trvalý význam ako symbolu orodovania Matky Božej za Rusko je dobre preukázaný. Cirkev si uctí túto pamiatku, aby si pripomenula neochvejnú ochranu veriacich Bohorodičky a duchovnú obnovu ruskej krajiny prostredníctvom jej ikony. - Svätý Prokop, blázon pre Krista (1303)
📜 Život svätého
Svätý Prokop z Usťugu, blázon pre Krista, žil v 14. storočí v ruských krajinách. Bol mníchom v kláštore Ustyug, ktorý sa nachádza neďaleko mesta Ustyug v regióne Vologda. Známy svojím skromným a zdanlivo hlúpym správaním sa, zriekol sa svetského majetku a žil v extrémnej jednoduchosti, často pôsobil rozstrapatene a hovoril spôsobom, ktorý sa ostatným zdal nezmyselný. Jeho činy však veriaci chápali ako hlboké duchovné svedectvo, ktoré stelesňuje evanjeliové učenie o bláznovstve pre Krista. Svoj život prežil v modlitbe, pokore a službe a svojím príkladom privádzal ľudí k pokániu. Svätý Prokop zomrel v roku 1303. Jeho pamiatku si 1. októbra pripomína pravoslávna cirkev, uznávaná ako svätec, ktorý žil životom radikálnej viery a odlúčenia a ponúkal mocné svedectvo o božskej múdrosti prostredníctvom zjavnej hlúposti.
