Romanian Postmark Day was celebrated on Wednesday, in Bucharest, by launching a new philatelic issue dedicated to the Brătianu family. The event was organized by Romfilatelia and Romanian Post.
According to the organizers, the event, held in the Ion C. Brătianu Park in the capital, highlighted the contribution of the Brătian family to the building of modern Romania and the role of philately in promoting historical and cultural heritage.
The event brought together representatives of public authorities, cultural and heritage institutions, the academic environment, collectors, philatelists and numerous guests.
The general director of the Romanian Post, Valentin Ștefan, emphasized the unique nature of the philatelic issue, stating that it represents a first for Romanian philately.
"We have an event that will have a greater resonance once time passes, because it is something new, it is the first time in the history of the postal industry in Romania that a stamp is issued with a historical family, even more so with the Brătianu family, which is perhaps the main family that shaped the Romania we all live in today," Valentin Ștefan told Agerpres.
