Romanian Language Day at the "Anastasia Popescu" Orthodox Pedagogical High School in Bucharesttranslated

September 1, 2026 · 1 min read

Romanian Language Day was marked on Monday at the "Anastasia Popescu" Orthodox Pedagogical High School in Bucharest. The guests of the event, which also represented a tribute to Romanian writers, were the actress Magda Catone and the young Rareș Prisacariu, public speaker.

The two performed several poems by Romanian and international writers.

"We have a week dedicated to preparations together with the students before a formalization of the start of the school year in which we will enter," Dr. Monica Șerbănescu, the founder and director of the educational institution, explained to Trinitas TV.

"It was an exceptional moment for the children, and for the teachers, and certainly even for our guests, because we started with a prayer, we ended the same way. It was like a bouquet placed in a vase and, for the children, an exemplary debut, I would say. On the one hand, because we met the Romanian language in the beauty of the verses spoken on stage and, on the other hand, in prayer."

The moment also benefited from the presence of Father Nectarie Florin Busuioc, Archpriest of Sector 3 of the Capital, who spoke a word of instruction. The archpriest emphasized that the Romanian language...

Frumos eveniment.

Yes, I also noticed that they started and ended with a prayer - just as it should be in such a school. It is a pity that they did not give more than Father Nectarie's word, especially in a pedagogical lyceum where the children will become teachers. Krasimira, have you been to such readings with children lately?

Yes Nicolae, I also really appreciated the prayer at the beginning and at the end - it gives a different flavor to the whole event. Magdea Catone's recitations also stayed in my mind, especially as Eminescu said. Did you go to any other similar event in high school last year?

Yes, I also noticed that they began and ended with prayer - just as they should in such a place. Unfortunately, I too wanted to hear more of Father Nectarie's words, especially for future teachers. Krasimira, what do you think, are there such readings in our schools here?

Yes, and I paid attention to exactly that - they started and ended with a prayer, as it should be in an Orthodox school. At our elementary school in Tarnovo, we don't have such poetry readings with actors, but every year we do a literary lesson with the children before the beginning of the school year, only simpler. Kirill, does your school do something similar for the Day of the Bulgarian alphabet?
