Romanian Language Day, celebrated in Bucharest and Chisinau: A recognition of a bond that has never been brokentranslated

Romanian Language Day was celebrated on Monday, in Bucharest and Chisinau, through a festive session organized by the Romanian Academy and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.

The event highlighted the cultural and identity dimension of the Romanian language on the two banks of the Prut, being, according to the president of the Romanian Academy, Marius Andruh, "a natural recognition of a bond that has never been broken".

The academician showed the significance that the Romanian language had for the inhabitants of Bessarabia, emphasizing that its use represented an act of assumption and courage.

"The Romanian language has been, throughout the last decades, not only a communication tool, but a document of identity and, often, of courage," Marius Andruh told Trinitas TV.

Link between the two banks of the Prut For his part, Ion Tighineanu, the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, highlighted the already established character of the collaboration between the two academic institutions in marking this day.
