International Day of Peace 2026: Invest in peace for everyone, everywhere, every daytranslated

Every year, on September 21, the United Nations (UN) marks the International Day of Peace.

The 2026 celebration is under the theme: "Invest in peace - for everyone, everywhere, every day".

"Peace is more than the absence of war; it is the foundation needed to collectively address the challenges facing humanity. It is the lived experience of safety, dignity, opportunity and cooperation in our daily lives," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized.

The Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the UN General Assembly, to be celebrated every year on September 21, at the opening of the sessions of the ninth month. The UN General Assembly declared this date as a day dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace among all the nations and peoples of the world.

On this day, the UN asks everyone, everywhere, to observe non-violence and cease-fire for 24 hours.
