According to the website of the diocese, Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky, Bishop Diodorus of Melekess and Cherdaklinsky, Bishop Alexander of Barysh and Inzensky with a host of clergy will offer prayers in the open air “for the sake of reviving historical memory, strengthening the Orthodox faith, for the prosperity of the Simbirsk land.”

Trinity Cathedral was built to commemorate the victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 and in memory of the fallen heroes of the Simbirsk militia. The church was consecrated in 1841 and destroyed exactly ninety years ago - in 1936.
