Zelenskyy says US envoys to visit Kyiv and Moscow for talks on ending war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that US negotiators involved in efforts to end the war with Russia are expected to visit both Kyiv and Moscow in the coming days.

“We are expecting the arrival in Kyiv of the US President’s envoys. We have received confirmation from their side: they will have meetings in Moscow and Kyiv. We look forward to meeting with them in the coming days,” Zelenskyy said in a video address.

The Ukrainian President said that “preliminary dates” had already been set but did not disclose them.

“This is very important. It is important that America remains active” in the diplomatic process, he stressed.

In late July, Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as part of efforts to “revitalize diplomacy” aimed at bringing the conflict to an end.

If confirmed, the upcoming trip would mark the first visit by Witkoff and Kushner to Kyiv since Trump returned to the White House and launched his diplomatic initiative aimed at reaching a settlement to the war.

The two US representatives have already travelled to Moscow several times as part of the negotiations.
