The trip of the students of the “Joy” choir to Moscow has ended | Elista and Kalmyk diocesetranslated

From June 15 to 20, 2026, with the blessing of Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia, the children’s and youth choir “Joy” of the Sunday school of the Kazan Cathedral in the city of Elista traveled to Moscow to participate in an educational project dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Appearance of Christ the Savior in Elista. Under the guidance of clergy and teachers, young choristers combined a pilgrimage to shrines with a cultural and educational program and communication. On the way to the capital, the choir made a stop in Volgograd, where in the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, the guys prayed for peace, their families and their native Kalmykia. Prayer in the church, revived on the soil of heroic Stalingrad, helped children to better understand the connection between faith and historical memory. The central event of the Moscow part of the trip was the participation of young singers in the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church. The choir students prayed together with the parishioners of the capital's parish and performed liturgical chants, becoming living evidence of the participation of children in the liturgical life of the Church and its unity, despite the distances.
